BSc Hons, PGDip Speech and Language Therapy.
I have been working as a Paediatric SLT since 2005. Before becoming an independent therapist, I worked as part of an NHS Child Development Team and this is where I was lucky enough to meet and work jointly with Rosie. I have experience of working with both early years and school age children in the home, nursery and school settings. I particularly enjoy and have therefore worked extensively with children who are neurodivergent including those with Autism, ADHD, Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) and Learning Differences. I have a personal interest in supporting children with attachment difficulties and developmental trauma and in-depth knowledge of PACE parenting and emotional regulation strategies.
I hold membership with the Health Professions Council (HPC), Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) and the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP).
I am a NLA Trained clinician meaning that I am skilled in supporting individuals with gestalt language processing, echolalia and who are developing their language through Natural Language Acquisition (NLA). I am also experienced in using a variety of approaches in therapy, including Makaton signing, AAC (Alternative and Augmentative communication), Intensive Interaction, SCERTS and visual supports. I am Hanen trained to deliver parent training packages to promote communication and interaction in their child with Language Delay, Developmental Delay, Social Communication Differences and Autism. I am also dysphagia trained and assess and support children with chewing, and swallowing difficulties or sensory feeding difficulties.
My therapy sessions are child-led and play based, and I work closely with families. I believe that the key to supporting language development is keeping kids regulated and engaged through fun!
